above a small wooded glen, The Hidden Garden's Bed & Breakfast on Lewis
Creek Road is a great getaway for adults visiting Vermont's Champlain Valley
and Green Mountains.
Our contemporary
large-timbered Post & Beam home with vaulted ceilings is surrounded
by 26 acres of woods and gardens. The property borders on over 120 acres
of protected natural habitat.
Although
the summer gardens have been put to bed for their winter rest, our winter
landscape is filled with beautiful conifers and evergreen plantings whose
shape and form are now revealed after the removal of annuals and die back
of perennials. A walk through our winter garden allows you to experience
textures and colors that were not apparent during the summer.
With
or without snow, there are many outdoor activities around us—both
nearby and afar. Our property is only a few steps from a half-day of cross-country
skiing or snowshoeing on 170 acres of Vermont Fish and Wildlife land. Across
the road and up aways is another opportunity for a cross-country ski or
snowshoe adventure. Lewis Creek is home to many animals whose tracks can
be followed along this creek.
No snow?
Just take a brisk country walk on the Five Mile Loop or branch off on interconnecting
back roads. Twenty minutes from Burlington and 30 minutes from Middlebury,
we are within easy distance of area colleges, the Burlington Marketplace
and Waterfront, as well as many other historical and sightseeing places
of interest.
Major
downhill ski areas are less than an hour away—Stowe, Sugarbush, Bolton
Valley as well as other well-known facilities. Both Catamount Family Center
and Sleepy Hollow have groomed trails and equipment rental for cross-country
skiing and snowshoeing.
(A word
of caution—our snow covered driveway quite often requires a 4-wheel,
all-wheel or front-wheel drive vehicle. We cannot guarantee a perfectly
plowed and sanded driveway.)
